Death of the super club
By ELIZABETH ROWE and CARLA CARUSO

ZHIVAGO
****
Waymouth St
ATMOSPHERE: Relaxed with friendly bar staff who remember the regulars by
name. Management requires staff to have worked overseas, so has a distinct
international flavour.

GIRL-GUY RATIO: 60:40.

DRINKS: Mostly beers imported from 40 countries, including Brazil, Spain,
Mexico, India, Germany and France. Its signature drink is the fuzzy peach
cocktail, which, strangely, contains lychees.

CROWD: For over-21s who dig a range of music styles from reggae to roots,
dancehall, jazz, Latin, Afrobeat and world funk.

INTERIOR: Comfy, with feature pieces that include a crying head statue,
gold Buddha wall with eyes that follow you, a mosaic bar and booth, and al
fresco seating. Only downside just one toilet for the ladies.

STARTS PUMPING: 10pm.

SEEN: David Wenham, members of the bands The Black Eyed Peas and The Cat
Empire.
