AUSSIE export Hugh Jackman has been voted Australia's most stylish man.

The star of box office hit Kate And Leopold is credited with being ``the only modern Australian to out-style the Yanks''.

Jackman slid in ahead of actor Guy Pearce, The Guardian's Simon Baker and even Zegna-clad former prime minister Paul Keating
in the list of 25 style leaders compiled by men's fashion magazine FHM Collections.

Editor-in-chief John Bastick said Jackman's style was ``classic sophistication''.

``His style is successful and sexy, and that comment came back time and time again from the people we consulted,'' Bastick
said.

``A three-piece suit with a tie

just doesn't suit Australians. The men here are more comfortable with a relaxed, simple, yet stylish dress sense and that
is what Jackman represents.''

Sydney image consultant Joe Gibara, who was responsible for the new look of Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe and Australian of
the Year Pat Rafter, said Jackman's style worked because he kept it simple.

``I think Jackman plays it very safe with his style and that works really well for him,'' Mr Gibara said.

``Style is more than what you wear. You have to be comfortable with what you wear to pull it off and you can tell Jackman
is very relaxed with his style.''

Gothic singer and songwriter Nick Cave came in at number two for his ``sharp-cutting blazers and jackets'', while actor
Heath Ledger, Mr Keating and surfer Oska Wright completed the top five.

Baker was at number six, followed by You Am I's Tim Rogers, Guy Pearce, actor David Wenham and silverchair's Daniel Johns.
