MTC holds garage sale AussieTheatre.com Thursday, September 28, 5:14pm AEST Take home Marcus Graham and David Wenham’s pants, Lisa McCune and Sigrid Thornton’s frocks – and the loo from Urinetown! Melbourne Theatre Company’s first Garage Sale in eight years will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at MTC Headquarters, 129 Ferrars Street, Southbank, from 9am to 3pm. MTC staff are clearing the decks and selling everything they no longer need, including costumes and props, materials and ribbons, production posters, set and office furniture, electrical goods, computers, books and much more. Among the more notable items that will be on sale are: - David Wenham’s swashbuckling costumes from Cyrano de Bergerac (MTC 2005); - The pivotal toilet (“Public Amenity Number 9”) and all the costumes from Urinetown (MTC 2004), including the wacky creations worn by Shane Bourne, Rhonda Burchmore, Gerry Connolly and Lisa McCune; - Sigrid Thornton and Marcus Graham’s sexy costumes from The Blue Room (MTC 2003); - The evocative cloud canvas from Metamorphoses (MTC 2003); and - The turn-of-the-century cars from A Little Night Music (MTC 1997). The queue stretched around the block when MTC held its last Garage Sale in 1998, with hundreds of people enticed by the opportunity of buying a piece of theatre history. 2006 promises to be no exception, with bargain hunters encouraged to arrive early for the best deals.
